First there was a budgie, and then there were more
Next came the canaries, I remember twenty-four.
The finches came home after a Thanksgiving dinner
All this time we were just a beginner.
Indian Ringnecks arrived on the scene
We loved them all, nice or mean
Barry was enamored of a macaw, blue and yellow
Fred was his name, we really loved that fellow.
There were cockatiels, lovebirds and others galore
I know, we said, let’s open a store!
So here we are, two decades have passed
Now we are starting an internet site at last.
Ready to share our knowledge and love of the birds
Hoping to find just the right words
To help birds and people to learn to share
In a world that is filled with feathers everywhere!
